SCOLIOSIS
Scoliosis is a sideways curve in the spine that can occur at any age. Idiopathic scoliosis has an unclear cause, however, it can also be congenital (existing from birth) or result from neuromuscular disorders. During growth spurts, this abnormal curvature can sometimes worsen, thus early detection is essential.
In mild circumstances, scoliosis symptoms may be minimal or nonexistent. However, the following are some warning signs
● Uneven shoulders, with one that seems higher than the other
● One side of the body with a pronounced rib cage
● A stretched waist or difference in hip height
In order to make a diagnosis, a physical examination and X-rays measuring the spine’s curvature are usually required. Treatment is based on the nature and severity of the curvature. For moderate curves, observation might be sufficient. For moderate curves, bracing is frequently advised in order to stop progression. In severe cases, surgery may be necessary to straighten the curvature and prevent complications over time.
